David Lynch, the avant-garde director of films like Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Drive, as well as the paradigm-shifting TV series Twin Peaks, has died at 78. His influence transcended film, creating a uniquely dark visual narrative language that became known by fellow filmmakers, critics, and fans simply as “Lynchian.” This vision also reached his paintings, books, experiments with music and entrepreneurships. Lynch’s death was announced by his family on Facebook.

Judy Garland’s Ruby Slippers From ‘Wizard of Oz’ Sell for $28M at Auction

Judy Garland’s iconic ruby slippers, worn during her role as Dorothy in the film The Wizard of Oz, sold for an astounding $28 million at auction. According to Heritage Auctions, the final price of the slippers made them the most valuable movie memorabilia ever sold at auction. Bidding commenced in November, with a starting price of $800,000.
